Neokast Productions Concert!

** QuicKast Beta is live! Sign up for the Neokast Beta Test and live stream! **

Neokast not only distributes live content (with of course high quality, unlimited amount of users, and incredible ease of use, in addition to allowing you yourself to live stream from DV cam or plain ‘ol webcam) but also produces and creates its own content.

We would like every band, no matter how big or small, to stream their live concerts through the Neokast Media Network. Yes, you can do it yourself, and it’s very easy! We are nearly-completed perfecting a feature that will make quicKasting even easier. More details soon.

Unlike other services out there that claim to provide live streaming, we have plans to stream every. single. band’s. concert. around the world. Yes, that means that even if you are so small that you’ve never played a gig, you could still have a large, international audience. The first concert ever streamed on Neokast was streamed from Canada by one of our users.

We’ve checked out some companies that claim to live stream concerts. All we can say is wow, a couple selected songs from a couple hand-selected bands! [Otherwise their servers will get maxed out :-( ] Oh boy, then you can watch grainy video clips on YouTube! That’s not web3.0 culture at all.

Neokast Productions will be live streaming the headliner, Eagle and Talon, at Troubaour West Hollywood tonight, June 25th. This is just a small prelude of what is to come in terms of live streaming concerts. Check out Eagle and Talon’s website!

NEOKAST QUICKAST BETA — 9pm 06/20/07

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

The web 3.0 era begins tonight.

Neokast will officially launch QuicKast Beta tonight, June 20th, at 9pm Central Time. Make sure you’ve registered for the Neokast Beta and try it out!

For those who are new, QuicKast is the first service ever offered on the Internet to stream live from DV Camera or Webcam with extremely high quality, unlimited amount of users, and for little or no cost.

Yes, you read that right. You can stream from DV CAMERA with firewire or USB 2.0. We personally use the new HD Camcorders combined with Sprint Mobile Broadband for our own quicKasting, but of course you can be connected with the conventional wired and wireless broadband connections. We just love to stream “out in the field.”

Don’t have a camera? Just do an audio QuicKast! Don’t have a mic? Just do a video QuicKast! Don’t have either? Just check out the streams!

We now have Vista capability. So you now need Windows XP or Vista with Internet Explorer for Neokast QuicKast to work.

Guides for installation and using quicKast can be found in the ‘help’ section of the Neokast website. Be sure to read through those if you have any problems - this is a radically new technology using techniques and technologies many years ahead of its time. Get ready for it.

QuicKast - Live Stream, even over Mobile Wireless

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

QuicKast is the Neokast feature that will allow anyone to stream live video over the Internet, direct from their computer to any number of viewers in great full screen quality. It is now fully functional and is being tweaked for imminent arrival on the Beta site. It is very simple. Connect your DV camera to your computer, then click on “Live QuicKast” and you will get a preview of the stream, click “Start Stream” and you will be streaming video over the Internet to anyone who desires to watch.

Wireless broadband is a great help to anyone streaming video. It allows one to go anywhere and stream live. Charge up the laptop and your DV camera and with a Sprint Wireless Broadband connection in your area you can go the beach, your local watering hole, a little league game, or anywhere a cellphone can connect and stream amazing quality live video through Neokast. This is not meant to be a commercial for Sprint, but it is the result of our research into the best wireless connection available - and we have been looking.

The most important consideration for streaming live video is the upload capacity of the connection. The Sprint EVDO Rev-A (revision A) service is by far the best service we have found and which claims to deliver 700-1400kbps download and, more importantly, 350-500kbps upload. Our own experience has been that we see 500 kbps upload consistently with variation from 400-600kbps. Download is consistentlly in the 1100-1300kbps range. It’s nice to have a service that delivers at the top end of the claimed range. The cost of the unlimited service Data Plan is $59.95 per month with normal extras which total about $75.00 a month. It requires a 24 month contract but you can test it out for 30 days for free to see if you like it and if it works well in your area. We have used it primarily in the Chicago and LA areas and it has been flawless. (past results are no guarantee etc). Of course you don’t have to just stream video either.

Be sure to get the Sierra Aircard U595 which seems to work very well, and much better than the alternative EVDO cards available. It costs about $50 after the discount and rebate but is well worth it.

In our research nothing comes close to the Sprint service. Cingular claims 70-140kbps upload. We stream wirelessly on Sprint at 320-385kbps and at 720 resolution with complete stability.

If anyone knows of an even better service we would love to know.
