Back from NAB 2007

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Thanks to all of the people who took us up on the offer to meet with us at the NAB Las Vegas Show. We are now in the process of starting a number of fruitful partnerships that we will go into at another time, some of which will be sure to turn heads and drop jaws. Remember, we’re working day in and day out creating a live streaming service that is geared towards you, the content producer and consumer. This means the bottom line for you, cost and quality, in anything Neokast does, is of top concern.

So what’s new? (more…)

Jeff Jacobs is now a part of the Neokast Team!

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Jeff Jacobs, President of Harpo Entertainment Group from 1984-2002 (In case you wondered, that’s OPRAH spelled backwards); and founder of Civitas, an organization with the mission of educating professionals who work on behalf of abused and neglected children, is now part of the Neokast Team!

Mr. Jacobs adds tremendous experience to Neokast. His talent for building successful ventures is a prized commodity, and one that we are truly excited about.

Neokast Ambassadors

Monday, April 16th, 2007

We have quickly reached the point to where the number of people eager to be a part of the Beta test to try out QuicKast (which is right around the corner) is overflowing.

Do you have a really good idea for live streaming with QuicKast? Let us know - we will place you at the very front of the queue of people who want to be invited to the Neokast Beta. Those who want to stream very good live events for large numbers of people will receive top priority for Beta invitations. Email questions with your Beta account screen name, who you are, and what your live streaming plan is and we will take care of it.

We already have Neokast College Ambassadors in place. These are college students that plan on live streaming concerts or events on campus. Belmont University, a well-known college focusing on music business/performance/marketing, will be live streaming the local/college bands that play at the Curb Cafe. Yes, this includes their renowned Pop/Rock Showcase. Hosting your band’s picture and a couple (quality and amount) of limited songs on Myspace just doesn’t cut it anymore - especially when you will be able to live stream your own concerts and have it available for replay. The quality will be outstanding too.

Do you have good, well-produced, well-mastered content that you would like to try out for QuicKast (streaming from file)? You will immediately preferred for a Beta invite. Just send an email to us concerning who you are and the type of content you own. (more…)

Neokast at NAB 2007

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Several members of the Neokast team will be at the NAB 2007 show in Las Vegas, Nevada. We will not be hosting a booth there - our VON booth was more successful than expected this year and if we did NAB too, we would have so many business cards we wouldn’t be able to get any work done on the beta - we’re planning on rolling out QuicKast soon. If you would like to talk with with us or, find out more, or just hang out — send us an email. We are out there working on some exciting news that we hope to tell you about soon.

Rapid Updates

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Thanks to everyone who has written to us concerning questions or comments on the beta performance. We are up to around 45 questions on our FAQ page already.

If you’re getting some buggy performance, chances are you have an older version of the beta! The newest version is starting to work like a well-oiled (streaming) machine. (more…)

FAQ / Content / Users / Eggs

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Thanks to the next wave of beta testers for trying out our service.

We’ve posted a brand new Frequently Asked Questions page addressing a sampling of some of your recent questions. Check it out!

The eagle eggs are hatching in 12-13 days. That event will definitely be live streamed for all to see!

We’re going to roll out our 4th wave of beta testers soon. Keep an eye on your inbox.

Questions, questions

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Thanks to the second wave of beta testers for trying out our technology! We’re taking each and every one of your comments into consideration during our development process.

  • Encounter a bug? Let us know. We’re literally working ’round the clock on issues that come up.
  • Have a suggestion how we can improve your user experience? Bring them on. We have expert web architects on staff. Remember: this isn’t your run of the mill web page. We can do things with our Web 3.0 site that normally can’t be done with conventional HTML.

With your help, the Neokast Media Network will be engineered for you.

Also special thanks to all of the people who have contacted us at our questions email address with your own project ideas. Many of you already have ideas for incredibly cool projects involving live streaming audio and/or video. Here’s a small sampling: (more…)

Awesome…and cute

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Look at that. The eagle just laid some eggs and is taking care of them in the nest! You’ll also get to watch how the eagle builds to the nest while still taking care of the eggs.

This is a screenshot of our embedded player for the Neokast Beta test. It’s a live stream all the way from Sidney, British Columbia. We will be telling you a lot more about the Hancock Wildlife Foundation another time.

Did we have to go there and set up a bunch of equipment and servers? Nope. Remember we’re empowering YOU to live stream. It didn’t take much time for us to interface and set up this stream with David and Rich. Pretty soon (after we’ve made our QuicKast user friendly so that anyone can use it) you will be able to live stream your own stuff with a click of a button.

For those of you who have tried to view streams on other websites…notice how BIG our embedded player is. It covers up at least half of the screen. If that’s too small for you, you can click on the little icon on the bottom right or double-click the screen itself. It will give you a full screen view. Oh, and that image is a screenshot from a 300kbps stream. (more…)
